About Edmund Ogawa Hardy
I am a filmmaker and writer based in London. I create works which primarily concern utopia, struggle, friendship, language and sci-fi.
My films are experimental narratives which combine voiceover and collage to tell fragmented stories of collective life, utopian visions and friendship. I also create music and animations.
My feature film Negative Worlds (2024) is an essayistic narrative of time travel, cybernetic utopias, and party scenes. It was premiered at Flatline City Festival, Tokyo, in November 2024, and received an honourable mention at New York Mixfest 2024. My short film Delinking Genesis (2025) was shot in Tokyo, Leicester and Sapporo and is a mini epic of the far future, concerning spies and cybernetics.
My poetry has been collected in two chapbooks: Desire for Tears (Earthbound Press, 2023) and Every Cruel Thing (Monitor Books, 2021). Writings have been published in Tribune, Granta, Tank Magazine, Radical Philosophy and Jacobin magazine, among other places.
